Since this is my first President’s report, I would like to share some of my kick off speech for anyone who was not able to attend.

First, I would like to thank Pam for not 1, BUT 2 years of service as our leader and President!  2 years… That’s 730 days…17,520 hours…. Or 23 dog years!

I would like to thank everyone for your overwhelming blind support for me becoming your President…. Now lets be honest for a second, and say that you guys are all doing secret happy dances that YOU are not up here right now! LOL Truthfully, I am actually, really excited to be President this year. I feel that our club is in a great place and that we have great momentum within our organization to achieve great things for our community.

This year I plan to continue working on creating a club culture where everyone in this room, feels comfortable, welcomed and respected. Differences are not ridiculed, but they are embraced. Where we can agree to disagree and not impose judgement on each other.  This year we will focus our time and energy on things we agree upon and walk away from anything that divides us.  As women, we need not be divided, we need to be united.  Within our club and within our community.

This year I plan to focus on SISLT in our community. We need to move from being a club focused organization, to be a community focused organization. If we expect to receive funds from our community to give back to our community….We need to be a part of our community!  This will mean more involvement in community activities, being physically present out there.

My three goals for this year will be:

  1. To allocate funds for the Major Project.  I will work closely to support the Major Project Committee to bring forth a project and direction for our club to move forward on. In the past year, the committee has made great progress in evaluating potential projects, and I believe we are nearing the finish line for a club decision and implementation of a project.
  2. I strongly believe that having a Strategic Plan is critical in developing a short- and long-term road map for our organization. President Elect Jane and VP Annie will be taking on this project and I am so excited to see the direction.
  3. One of my favorite things about this club is our generosity. And we all are feeling the financial impact from the Edgewood Situation. I am dedicated to coming up with a new fundraiser or fundraisers that our club implement to replace this revenue stream.  I believe that we can create something great and look forward to having brain storming sessions to bring forth a plan to the club that will inspire us all to fundraise.

With all of this being said…. This is a club, a foundation, an organization. That without the equal efforts from all of its members will not thrive.  We all need to work together, help your sisters, lift your sisters and support each other. Personally, professionally and within this club!
