By President Pam
I hope you have all dug out after our recent snow storm and are bracing for the next one. This is quite a winter! Unfortunately, we were not able to attend the District 5 Winter meeting in Reno on Saturday due to the snow storm. When our members aren’t shoveling or snow blowing, they are busy furthering the goals of our Soroptimist club. We recently had presentations of opportunities for our major project—the STEM room at the Boys & Girls Club and the upgrading of a local girls softball field. The Major Project Committee will be distributing a member survey soon to determine how we should proceed. Look for the survey in your email and please submit your response. We continue work on this year’s President’s Project supporting the Gift of Literacy Program with Lake Tahoe Community College and the Lake Tahoe Unified School District. During the month of February we are collecting monetary and in-kind donations for items to include in the 260 first-graders’ backpacks. We are asking local businesses and agencies to contribute along with our members. If you would like to make a donation for the purchase of these items, you can give your donation to any member of the committee: Pam Barrett, Peggy Blowney, Peg Kortes, Roberta Mason, Rose Marie Ottman and Cheryl Chambers.
