Our clubs major project, the girls softball field renovation, is well under way!

The club has committed to fully fund Phase 1 which includes:  site clearing, grubbing, grading, erosion control and re-vegetation; renovation of the current parking lot to a drop-off area with ADA parking; paving a pathway to access the STMS parking lot; adding a player warm-up area; building two enclosed dugouts with benches and storage; purchasing large spectator bleachers and a new scoreboard; erecting new fencing for backstop, dugouts, gates and enclosing the current perimeter to allow fee collection at tournaments; and adding site furnishings (PA system, new bases, water fountains, and signage).

Two additional phases have been identified.  Phase II would provide for the actual construction of the score booth and storage building.  Phase III would likely encourage a partnership between our club, LTUSD, and the Babe Ruth organization to construct a joint facility that would provide for fee collection at tournaments, a concession stand, and a bathroom facility.  Funding for both of these phases has yet to be determined and will be considered down the road.

The Design Committee just released the request for proposal (RFP) to three local design companies.  This is the first step in the process.  After the club hires a design firm, they will work to produce the following documents needed in order to obtain any necessary permits and eventually the hiring of a contractor to oversee renovation:

  1. Site Survey, Plans, and Design of the Softball Field Project based on Preliminary Conceptual Drawings
  2. Site Construction Documents for construction requirements and estimated costs
  3. Permitting documents.
  4. Architectural drawings of a two story score booth and storage building (to be built in Phase II).

Several committees have been formed to assist with the successful implementation of phase 1 and club members are encouraged to get involved.  The committees and committee chairs are as follow:

Finally, the Softball Committee has established an email account for use by all club members with regards to the project .  Club members and members of the public are encouraged to use this email address in order to correspond directly with the softball committee.  Also, members are able to access this site and review all incoming and outgoing conversations.  We just ask that nothing be deleted.  The password for this email account is Homeofgirlssoftball.   The period at the end of the password is part of the password and the password is case sensitive.
