Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe (SISLT) has contributed $325,000 to renovate the softball field at the South Tahoe Middle School and has completed some of the upgrades, but additional funding is needed to complete the project. Specifically, a 5,000 square-foot warning track is needed as a safety feature at the perimeter of the field to increase visibility and prevent injuries as players near the outfield fence. SISLT has received funds from the City of SLT and Liberty Utilities, but needs to raise an additional $30,000 to install the warning track. Any excess funds raised for the warning track will be used for field renovation and league support. The new conditions at Soroptimist Stadium: Home of Girls Softball will not only make it more Title IX compliant to the adjacent boys’ baseball field, but drive home the community message that girls are valued too. Your financial assistance can help the volunteers of SISLT build a thriving softball community with the facilities, equipment, training and resources girls need for success.
