A note of gratitude to all who sent sympathy messages and cards to myself and my husband.  On December 15th, my son Richard King, died peacefully in his sleep, at his home, in his own bed. We did not know that Richard had a heart condition. As a result of his heart condition he suffered a fatal heart attack. My “Mom” intuition had sent us to check on him when his voice mailbox was full and we hadn’t heard from him for a couple of days. The South Lake Tahoe Police, Sheriff, and Paramedics who responded to our 911 call were very comforting.

We have been thanking God for the last eleven years for all that Rich had accomplished after having had survived an abscess on his brain, the resulting surgery and eleven days in St. Mary’s ICU from undergoing dental work in 2008.  Since then, He completed two AA degrees at LTCC, then enrolled online at Arizona State University and completed is Bachelors and Masters degrees (from their Engineering School) all while running his own Quality Tile & Marble business full time. He was a keen and competitive student, always making the Dean’s List and Honor Roll. He graduated Cum Late just missing Magna Cum Late by less than a fraction of 1 percent

Although my husband and I tried to lead by example of with a Vegan diet and exercising on a regular basis, he was resistant to change until just the past couple years. The Whole Foods Plant Based No Oil added diet (although we do add a little fish now & then) has been documented to prevent and even reverse severe heart disease. We knew Rich was over-weight and eating a diet heavy on meat & dairy, but he was trying to add more fruits and veggies over the past year. We didn’t know of his heart condition and he hadn’t seen a Doctor so we don’t know if he had any knowledge of having heart issues.

Again we want to thank the members for their support and hope that this information helps to make all members aware that heart disease is the number on killer in the US, and that it is preventable and even reversible with proper diet and exercise.
