is an organization for business and professional
women dedicated to improving the quality of life
in our community and throughout the world by
providing service.

About us...

        Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe was founded in 1958; it is a part of a worldwide organization of women who commit themselves to do service to their community, region, and world. The South Lake Tahoe Club has 140 members representing a variety of professions and industries within the community. The aims of the group are to maintain high ethical standards in business, to strive for human rights, to develop a spirit of unity among all Soroptimists of the world, and to quicken the spirit of service and human understanding.

        Soroptimist International is now the world's largest service organization for women. There are currently around 100,000 members in over 3,000 Clubs in 112 countries and territories, and the movement is expanding rapidly, many Clubs being formed in the developing world.

        Membership in a Soroptimist Club is by invitation and care is taken to ensure that each potential member meets eligibility requirements. To be eligible for active membership a woman must be actively engaged in a management or professional capacity, in the private or public sector, or in an occupation of comparable status or comparable responsibilities.
